This is Toby, our current foster puppy. He is recovering from Parvo, a highly contagious and often fatal virus that strikes mainly puppies and dogs with compromised immune systems. Toby had been hospitalized for several days and was on i.v. drips until his veins gave out. The vet didn’t give him much of a chance at survival and so the rescue group that we work with, Underdogs, asked on Monday if we’d take him home so he wouldn’t be alone. We worked hard to keep him going and finally late Wednesday afternoon he started his turnaround for the better. He’s still very weak, but his progress is good. Hopefully in a few weeks he’ll be on to his forever home.
On a side note, Underdogs has created a fundraiser campaign to try and raise money to offset Toby and his 4 sisters medical bills (all 5 puppies had parvo.) If you’d like to help, please make a donation or share this post. Thank you!
